Confessions of a StartUP

A lot has transpired since I/we last updated this thing, its only right I update the people and even myself with everything that’s happened. …its amazing that its really been 5 months since we last posted something here thats entirely to long smh….. so we lost a soilder…..by solider I mean a near founding member of the company while I wont get in to much detail this is something that definitely took a spell to move forward from :/  this event lead to money issues as well as personal issues…but all’s in the life of a founder of a start up company these are some of the things we must and WILL go through. I’ve learned there are no losses or wins in life only results..some are favorable some aren’t. Thus we move forward, we lost someone and gained others, we thank everyone who has jumped on board and is now a part of #TeamCosiety Our journey has taken all the way to Brooklyn our new home and office location a lovely neighborhood with great culture that we now feel we were deprived till this very point …This summer together help from a few interns a few advisors and a ton of college students we will change everything…when i say everything I mean ALOT but “everything” sounds so much nicer lol…follow us and our bumps, hurdles, troubles turned accomplishments…till next time…

During Global Entrepreneurship Week, we attended the mtvU Movers and Changers event at the NYSE. Cosiety was invited after entering into the entrepreneurial competition. We were unfortunately not chosen as a finalist, but the entry process proved to be a ton of fun (see the video on the Cosiety home page) and as always, a learning process. The finalists were a team from Howard University and a team from the University of Pennsylvania. Ultimately, Karishma Shah and Sushanth Bhaskarabhatla from Penn State took the grand prize: $25,000 in seed money! Their idea was Skill Hub: A global platform for people of all backgrounds to exchange skills.

The most exciting part of the event was the panel of extremely successful entrepreneurs. I am a huge lover of panels, and absorb them like a sponge. I always leave feeling very inspired, and this time had some funny quotes jotted down too (thanks Mark Cuban). It is really important for students to attend as many networking events, panels, seminars, and conferences as possible. The panelists provide real-world knowledge that could never be taught in a classroom. This is also true for those who are out of school as well. We’re all still students in the classroom of life, and a little insight can go a long way.

..Its been quite a while since we made an official post on here and with all that’s been going on I promise you guys wouldn’t blame us. Experiencing internal issues, external issues, school issues, home issues, and probably every other issue you can think of………unfortunately this sort of struggle is something we anticipated with building a start up. But you can never know something until its in your face and right now the fan is in our “grill” lol…but this journey isn’t really about us its about representing the young generation and going against the norm so we can create a lane for ourselves and our peers instead of being corporate zombies and living someone elses dream…I say all that that to say this, the struggle is WORTH it… changes will happen, you will lose people on the way, things will get hard and you will doubt yourself and everything your doing…however excluding death there is no entirely negative situation, we learn from every outcome in this world whether its bad or good and if you can apply that knowledge and have that drive you really can change the world if your ready to work to seize it. We will all go “down the hill” during our lives, its your decision if your going to make something out of yourself and “go up that hill again”…because at the end of the day at the top is where you get the best view.
